Sixers look to even up record

Posted

Considering where the Sixers started, the .500 mark looks like a waterfall in the middle of the desert. After a disastrous 3-13 start, they can even their record at 28-28 by winning their final two games before the All-Star break.“I think it speaks volumes about what kind of people are on this team,” said coach Doug Collins yesterday. “We’ve got young guys who want to win. And as a coach, that’s all you could ever ask for.”The quest to get to .500 will have to go through Memphis tonight and Houston tomorrow. Two weeks ago, the Sixers blew a 21-point, third-quarter lead to the Grizzlies. Elton Brand pointed to that game as a jolt to the Sixers’ system — since then, they have gone 6-2. “It’s a good feeling, opportunity to be .500,” Brand said. “Not great, but it’s pretty good.”
