Sixers sign forward Patrick Baldwin Jr. to 10-day deal

Posted

The Philadelphia 76ers have reportedly signed former 2022 first-round pick Patrick Baldwin Jr. to a 10-day contract.  With the moves made at the deadline, trading away Jared McCain and Eric Gordon, the Sixers needed to fill roster spots in order to utilize the days left on Dominic Barlow's two-way deal.

Baldwin has played 95 career NBA games with the Golden State Warriors, Washington Wizards, and Los Angeles Clippers  and most recently completed a 10-day stint with LA. Over two games played, he averaged five points per game in six minutes, scoring eight points in his final game with the team on Jan. 25.

Signing Barlow brings the Sixers to 14 active standard contracts. Philadelphia needs to maintain 15 players on standard NBA contracts in order for their players on two-way deals to utilize their two-way availability.

Dominick Barlow is expected to be converted to a standard NBA contract in the near future, but it would make sense for the Sixers want to utilize all of his two-way availability, meaning another move, potentially converting Jabari Walker's two-way deal, could come first.

Signing Baldwin gave the Sixers the temporary depth they needed while they figure out their roster churn after the deadline.
