At long last, after years of asking, begging, imploring, praying even, the Sixers organization has heard the desires of its fanbase and is bringing back the iconic—albeit controversial—black "Iverson" jerseys as they look to honor the 25th anniversary of the team's '01 Finals run.
The team may not have ultimately completed their task, but they famously challenged the Goliath that was Shaq and Kobe with the Los Angeles Lakers and even stole Game 1 on their home court. In the years since, the squad—like Iverson—has been glorified as one of Philadelphia's peak inspiration sports tales.
Wednesday morning, the Philadelphia 76ers at long last were back in black.

Dropping a hype video and releasing several stills with multiple players flashing the new threads, the Sixers certainly know how to make an entrance, even if everyone already knows they're coming to the party.
According to the team, these jerseys will be available for purchase beginning Oct. 15 at 10 a.m. on Sixersshop.com and at the Xfinity Mobile arena team store on Oct. 17.
The team will then debut these jerseys on Saturday, Nov. 8, against the Toronto Raptors.

The team could barely hold in the poorly kept secret any longer, leaking the date of the reveal in multiple social media posts a day before the reveal.

Earlier this month, the team formally announced that it would be honoring Iverson's underdogs on their 25th anniversary, mentioning plans for in-game and promotional throwbacks, alumni tributes, custom merchandise and much more. Less than two weeks later, the team revealed the court design for the nights that they will be celebrating.
The offseason is quickly coming to an end for Philadelphia, who will host their media day this Friday, Sept. 27. The following day, the team will begin a brief training camp before shipping out to Abu Dhabi for a preseason double feature against the New York Knicks.
