Teflon Promotions has taken over the Alan Horwitz Sixth Man Center for their pay-per-view event Re: Play Volume 1 on Saturday night, one year to the day of their last event in the city.
The customary weigh-ins took place on Friday night. The match card schedule for eight bouts had to be trimmed to seven due to featured fighter James Martin weighing 10 pounds over for his fight against Tariq Green. Weight cuts are both physically and mentally draining, but coming in that much overweight is both disrespectful to his opponent and his profession without an overarching reason, such as injury during camp.
The fighters left the scale for the face-offs. A lot of respect shown amongst the competition was a nice sight to see before the fists start flying on Saturday night. Main event fighter, Rasheen Brown, boasting a record of 13-1 with eight knockouts, did not make it to his face-off with Gary Hampton, but he did make official weight, and their fight will go on as planned.
Teflon Promotions owner Dom Walton could not be more excited to see how this event will propel his company and fighters forward.
"This is going to be a rebirth of something that fell apart last year," Walton said. "I am an exciting promoter. I am good at what I do. Last year, I had a tragedy, but now we are looking up. Rebirth, take over, and be the leading promotion in Philadelphia."
"There is a lot of talent in Philly," He continued. "And they do not get the light they deserve. We can get more world champions from the city if they are promoted right. That's my job, to put them on that pedestal."
Walton has a lot of trust in what he has built with Teflon Promotions, and he takes a lot of pride in representing a city that he feels has more to give from the fight scene. He is hoping for a lot of evenly matched bouts and something that will have the fans excited from start to finish.
If Walton's personal conviction means anything, Re: Play Volume 1 is going to be a major success. The action begins at 6:30 p.m.!
Per Teflon Promotions, the event will be streamed live on Millions.co for $21.99 for those unable to attend in person.
