Tippett & Foerster both score twice in 5-2 win over Kraken

The Flyers stay hot with a big win over Seattle

After an overtime win against the Minnesota Wild on Saturday night, the Philadelphia Flyers (3-2-1) were in action against the Seattle Kraken (3-1-2) on Monday evening.

This was the first of two meetings between the clubs this season. In both meetings last season, the Flyers finished with a 1-1 record.

Dan Vladar was named the starting goaltender for the second game in a row for the Flyers. Vladar had a strong performance against the Wild, saving 15 of 16 shots. Jett Luchanko and Nikita Grebenkin also drew back into the lineup.

Flyers vs. Kraken

Jordan Eberle got things started for the Kraken with a goal 7:16 into the first period. Cale Fleury took a shot from the point that was deflected by Eberle and ended up behind Vladar.

It didn't take long for the Flyers to find an equalizer. A misplay of the puck from Karken goalie Joey Daccord allowed Sean Couturier to gain control of the puck, send it over to Nick Seeler, who put a shot on net, which was deflected by Owen Tippett and ended up behind Daccord.

Tyson Foerster doubled the Flyers' lead on the powerplay just minutes later. Bobby Brink dished a pass over to Foerster, who ripped a shot over the glove of Daccord.

Grebenkin dropped the gloves with Fleury after Garnet Hathaway was on the receving end of a hit. Grebenkin made quick work of Fleury in his first fight as a Flyer after being placed back into the lineup.

Four total goals were scored in the second period. Travis Konecny started it off with his first goal of the season nearly five minutes into the period.

Egor Zamula slid a pass across the crease to Konecny, who slotted himself on the far post and had a wide-open net for his first of the year.

Tyson Foerster potted his second goal of the game on the powerplay, not even one minute after Konecny's goal. Trevor Zegras fed a pass to Cam York, who fired a shot on goal, which Foerster tipped past Daccord for his second goal of the evening.

Noah Cates was awarded the goal at first, but later review showed that it was Foerster who tipped in the shot.

Jani Nyman gave the Kraken its second goal of the game 8:33 into the period on a powerplay. Nyman fired a shot from the right faceoff dot after being fed a pass by Matty Beniers.

Owen Tippett scored his second goal of the game with less than five minutes remaining in the period. Receiving a pass from Couturier in the offensive zone, found enough space from an awkward angle to get his shot past Daccord.

Besides a fight between Travis Konecny and Ryan Lindgren in the third period, the Flyers were able to hold onto their 5-2 lead and picked up their second consecutive win on home ice.

Big night from Tippett, Foerster, and York

Owen Tippett and Tyson Foerster both scored two goals each in the win, but defenseman Cam York also added three assists. York started the season on the IR and made his way back into the lineup last week.

Along with his three assists, York registered 21:49 of ice time.
