Tyrese Maxey is continuing to grow his legacy as a member of the Philadelphia 76ers. After being selected with the 21st pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, Maxey has continued to vastly exceed expectations with the Sixers.
Entering his sixth season in the league, Maxey has been named an All-Star and has quickly become the future of the franchise, as stated by his predecessor, former MVP Joel Embiid.
As his career continues to bloom, Maxey finds himself climbing up the team’s record books, beginning with what has been a long-time weakness of the franchise, and ironically, a weakness of Maxey coming into the league.
In his 325th game with the franchise, Tyrese Maxey has moved into the second spot on the team’s list of all-time three-pointers made. Against the Chicago Bulls Tuesday night, Maxey hit the 725th made three of his young career, passing Robert Covington for the second most in franchise history.
Maxey now sits behind Allen Iverson, who made 885 during his 12 years with the Sixers. This season, Maxey is hitting a career high in three-pointers made per game—4.3 3PM entering Tuesday night's matchup against Chicago. At his current rate, he should pass Iverson before the All-Star break.
The future is bright for the Sixers' next franchise star. A player who has improved in at least one area every single season of his career, there is no telling how high he can continue to rise.
