Eagles have found a true unicorn in DT Uar Bernard

With the 251st pick in the NFL Draft, the Eagles found a true diamond in the rough in DT Uar Bernard.

At pick 251, the Philadelphia Eagles made one of the most heartwarming and intriguing selections of the 2026 NFL Draft. A prospect whose story feels like a Hollywood movie, selected by a team that has done something very similar before with another player with little to no football experience, Jordan Mailata.

The Eagles drafted Uar Bernard, defensive line!

Some may not have heard his name before, but that is about to change.

Uar arrives in Philadelphia as the NFL’s first African International Player Pathway player to ever be drafted, but calling Bernard a developmental project does not do him justice.

Uar is 6'4, 306 pounds, and filled with rare traits that are hard to find early in the draft, much less in round seven.

This is exactly the high upside swing teams should take at the end of a draft, and it is exactly why Howie Roseman and the Eagles did. Gambling on raw traits that could be molded into a future starter is a dream at this stage of the draft. His size and traits can’t be bought or taught. The upside potential is immense.

A 4.68 in his forty and a 10-foot-10 broad jump at his size borders on absurd, and for a projected DT, it is ever rarer.

But make no mistake, this pick is about more than football. Bernard’s path to the NFL began in a small village in Nigeria, was celebrated in Pittsburgh during the draft, and will evolve in the city of Brotherly Love.

Seeing him come out on stage for his selection at pick 251 is a moment that goes beyond stats, size, and positional debates; it's what draft weekend is all about.

A celebration of these athletes, seeing the joy, the emotion, and all of us remembering we are watching dreams come true, and that the best stories from the draft are the ones we never saw coming!

As always, thank you for reading!
