After having a three-week break that ended this past weekend, Union II is back in action again this Friday night as Ryan Richter’s men head north of the border to take on Toronto FC II for the second time this season.
Union II returned from a three-week break this past weekend as they welcomed early strugglers Carolina Core FC to Subaru Park, and the game couldn’t have gone any better for Union II in their return to league action.
Philadelphia came away with a 4-1 win after dominating Carolina for almost the entire game. The lineup saw several changes, with first-teamers Andrew Rick and Stas Korzeniowski returning to Union II action for the first time in 2026. Malik Jakupovic got the scoring spree underway with a phenomenal finish from outside the box.
Stas Korzeniowski proved once again why he’s just too good for this level of football with a 5-minute first-half brace to put Union II up 3-0 going into the half-time break. Tyler Gladstone, an academy player, had a great game and capped it off with a great assist to club captain Rafael Uzcategui as the defender headed home from Gladstone’s corner to secure all 3 points and a convincing return to league action.
Toronto FC II head into this game on a much better run of form than they had after losing the opening game of the season to Union II back at the end of February. The Canadian side managed just one win from their opening five games of the season, but have bounced back in recent weeks, scoring 10 goals in their last three games, and in their last game this past weekend, Toronto managed to get a point against league leaders Crown Legacy FC before losing the extra point shootout.
These two sides met at the start of the season when Toronto visited Subaru Park to open the season. Union II controlled the game and came away with a 1-0 win thanks to a Malik Jakupovic strike. Ryan Richter’s men will be playing a side in much better form in this one, and they’ll be the ones playing as the visiting team.
The game is scheduled to kick off at 7 pm EST on Friday, 17th April. The game will be available to stream worldwide for free on both the MLS Next Pro website and the OneFootball platform.
