Report: Vic Fangio to remain with Eagles in 2026 despite considering retirement

Posted

Despite earlier reports that left Eagles fans unsettled, defensive coordinator Vic Fangio will ineed be calling the shots for the Eagles' defense in 2026 according to Jeff McLane.

Recent whispers of the 67-year-old contemplating retirement took the NFL by storm. Fangio has been instrumental in Philadelphia's defensive resurgence, of course playing a key role in their iconic Super Bowl win over Kansas City. With a storied career and having achieved the highest honor in the sport, not many could've blamed him. However, much to the joy of Eagles fans, he'll be returning for one more rodeo in 2026.

The Eagles have already lost DB coach Christian Parker to the Dallas Cowboys this offseason and suffering another blow would've been unideal given that it would mean there would be new coordinators on both sides of the ball. Luckily for Philly, Fangio is staying, and stability remains on the defensive side of the ball.

Whether or not this is his final year is anyones' guess, but for now, all eyes turn towards free agency and beyond where the Eagles have some housekeeping to do.
