The Wardrobe, a local nonprofit focused on eliminating clothing insecurity and supporting people as they reenter the workforce, is expanding its programming as it marks 30 years in operation.
New this year, The Cost of Authenticity Series leads thought-provoking conversations that explore the complexities of identity and confidence. The free community events feature guests who speak to the challenges and opportunities of embracing multifaceted identities on the job.
The next installment, Women in Nonprofit Leadership, will take place Wednesday, Dec. 17, at 6 p.m. at the William Way Center. The panel includes The Wardrobe’s executive director, Sheri Cole. Admission is free and no registration is required.
Beyond clothing assistance, The Wardrobe has long offered coaching and education to help clients build skills and confidence. Current workforce development services include resume reviews, interview preparation, and “Threads of Independence” workshops focused on creating a sustainable wardrobe. One-on-one coaching remains a core component of the organization’s approach.
Persephone Ulysses, The Wardrobe’s support services manager, said the authenticity series will expand next year with a focus on bringing together broader age groups and communities from across the region.
“As we grow this series, I want people to feel invited, seen, and connected,” Ulysses says. “Intergenerational dialogue is about expanding our understanding of what authenticity can look like for everyone.”
