Two men were killed and three others were hospitalized after a masked gunman opened fire on a group of people Monday night in West Philadelphia, authorities said.
The mass shooting happened just before 8:45 p.m. in the area of 60th and Delancey streets, in the Cobbs Creek neighborhood, according to police. Investigators said the suspect began firing from inside a white vehicle.
Paul Cobb and Naasir Boyd, both 24-year-old Philadelphia residents, were shot in the chest and died a short time after the incident, law enforcement officials said.
Authorities said a 36-year-old man was taken to a local hospital in critical condition with a gunshot wound to his stomach. Two other men, ages 35 and 54, were struck in the leg and were being treated for nonlife-threatening injuries, according to the PPD.
Police did not report any arrests on Tuesday. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call or text the PPD tip line at 215-686-TIPS (8477).
PPD data shows that 23 individuals have been murdered this year in the city, compared to 50 on the same date in 2025. The number of shooting victims is down 49%.
