A woman was killed by a hit-and-run driver after stepping out of a rideshare vehicle early Monday morning in Southwest Philadelphia, authorities said.

Detectives are searching for a black 2020-2023 Dodge Charger Hellcat or Scat Pack Wide Body in relation to the crash, which happened at around 3:30 a.m. on the 7200 block of Elmwood Avenue in the Eastwick neighborhood.

Talyia Bernice Nesmith, 29, just got out of an Uber and was attempting to cross the street when a speeding driver heading east on Elmwood struck her, knocking her into a nearby parked car, police said.

Medics took Nesmith to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where she died just after 4 a.m., according to law enforcement officials.

Investigators said the driver hit an unoccupied parked Honda Accord before fleeing the scene. No other injuries were reported.

The PPD released stock images of the make and model of the vehicle wanted in connection with the collision. Officials said the car may have passenger-side and windshield damage. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Crash Investigation Division at 215-685-3180 or call or text the police tip line at 215-686-TIPS (8477).
