Stupid Criminal Alert: After holdup, alleged robber boards bus with victim

Talk about a simple criminal. A Philadelphia man was arrested earlier this month after he allegedly robbed a man at gunpoint at a bus stop and then boarded the bus with the victim.

Philadelphia police said the incident happened Aug. 6 on Roosevelt Boulevard in the city’s Hunting Park section. The suspect, later identified as James Robinson, allegedly approached the male victim, pulled out a gun and demanded the victim give up his property. The victim gave Robinson his iPad touch.

Instead of fleeing immediately, Robinson then boarded the bus with his victim, which was nicely captured on the bus’ surveillance video. After a few blocks, Robinson got off the bus at Roosevelt Boulevard and Pratt Street.

For his part, Robinson, 21, eluded capture until Sept. 11 when police arrested him. He is charged with robbery, possession of a firearm prohibited, theft and related charges.

There is no word on whether police recovered the stolen merchandise.
