It might be getting cold outside but the Philly music scene will keep you warm this winter. While the world slows down to savor the holiday season, take advantage of the extra downtime to support your favorite local artists. From indie rock to folk to dream pop with a seasonal twist, there’s something for everyone this December. Ladybird Fan of banjo and the mandolin? Ladybird is an all-female trio performing a blend of Swedish folk and jazz, creating a twangy sound all their own. Joining them on the lineup will be the soothing sounds of singer/songwriters Brittany Tranbaugh and Vessna Scheff. Chill Moody Grammy-nominated rapper Cam’ron is coming to town and celebrated Philly hip hop artist Chill Moody is included in the lineup. If you haven’t seen Chill live yet, here’s an opportunity to experience his distinct flow and high energy delivery in person. If you love Florence and the Machine, Vita and the Woolf is right up your alley. Lead singer Jen Pague’s vocals are enough to give you goosebumps and the band’s neo-soul meets synth pop sound is truly unique. Also on the lineup for the evening is up and coming artist Grayling. In need of a vacation? Philly music staple Work Drugs can be your escape — sonically at least, with their feel-good, west coast vibes. Their 6th annual holiday show at South Philly venue Boot & Saddle will also feature garage rock band, RFA. You can’t go wrong with a heartfelt set from singer/songwriter Jeff Campbell, whose acoustic rock vibes and poetic lyrics reel you in. Originally from the Philly area, he currently lives in San Francisco, but will be coming home for Christmas for this special show at World Cafe Live.
