PHILADELPHIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Late Wednesday night, police released surveillance video of the suspects believed to be involved in a quintuple shooting at a West Philadelphia public pool hours earlier.

Two children, two teens, and an adult city worker were shot just after 4 p.m. at Christy Rec Center, near the intersection of 56th and Christian streets.

An 11-year-old girl and a 10-year-old boy were both injured, but are expected to make a full recovery, according to authorities.

A 16-year-old boy was shot twice in the back, and remains in critical condition, police said. Another 16-year-old boy was shot, and is being treated for non-lifethreatening injuries.

The fifth victim, a city employee, sustained a graze wound to the hand and buttocks, and is in stable condition.

Police Commissioner Kevin Bethel told reporters at the scene that approximately 75 people were at the pool when the shooting occurred, as temperatures rose to close to 100 degrees Wednesday in the city.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call or text the PPD tip line at 215-686-TIPS (8477).
