Sushi by Boū launches new multi-course and private omakase experience

There’s a new sushi experience in town, and it comes from a well-known brand out of New York City. Sushi by Boū offers a fresh take on an omakase experience, and it’s looking to take over the back room of Izakaya Fishtown, at 1832 Frankford Avenue, starting this weekend.

The 60 minute experience brings participants to the private space in the back of the venue’s dining area (which recently received renovations inspired by the hip-hop era of the 90s) to enjoy a specially curated menu for either 12 courses priced at $60 or 17 courses priced at $125. Guests can also pair their experience with a selection of cocktails, sake and other spirits or, choose to upgrade with some add-ons like a la carte specialties and seasonal mochi ice creams.

“We are thrilled to announce the grand opening of the first Sushi by Boū location in Pennsylvania,” said SimpleVenue Founder Michael Sinensky in a statement. “We think Fishtown is the perfect neighborhood to experience our ‘sushi for the people’ concept. It is casual, fun, affordable and faster paced. We hope to attract foodies, visitors and neighbors – including those in the Fishtown community that would become regulars during the month.”

This timed omakase experience is meant to be intimate with a limited amount of seats available while featuring “the freshest of fish”, both locally sourced and brought in from all over the world. The seasoned sushi chefs will serve guests directly, guiding them through the meal while complimenting it all with a selection of handmade cocktails, imported sake, and rare Japanese whiskeys.

The brand is also planning to open a second location in the City of Brotherly Love later this year in Center City.

Menu-wise, think Hamachi (yellowtail), Botan Ebi (spotted prawn), Ikura (salmon roe), Hotate (scallop), O-Toro (fatty tuna), plus hand rolls and other sushi favorites, with the bar serving up libations like a Sakura Martini and Japanese Negroni.

“There’s no better place to open in a city where people take their food so seriously. In Philly, we always admired the food scene where there’s so much diversity, so much passion and so willingness to try new things,” Sinensky added. “When patrons embrace the quality, the vision and the service, they become loyal customers for life. That is what we want. We are starting with Sushi Suite and Sushi by Boū, but we want to be around in Philadelphia for years with many more restaurants and concepts to come.”

Sushi By Bou

Sushi by Boū’s opening date is this Friday, May 10, and reservations are now available on Opentable.
