Update: Police late Tuesday identified the man arrested as 35-year-old Dequan Jacobs, of West Philadelphia. He was charged with eight counts of indecent assault and harassment, and his bail was set Wednesday at $50,000, of which he must pay 10%, according to court documents.
A bicyclist was arrested Tuesday following a two-day spree of assaulting women in South Philadelphia and Center City, police said.
In all cases, the man, who authorities have not publicly identified, rode up to a female pedestrian and grabbed her butt, investigators said.
A total of seven assaults were reported between 5 a.m. Sunday and 3:45 p.m. Monday, according to police. The incidents occurred in Point Breeze, East Passyunk, on South Broad Street and in the western section of Center City.
The suspect was apprehended at around 5 p.m. Tuesday on the 2500 block of Reed Street in Grays Ferry, authorities said Wednesday. He is expected to be charged with multiple counts of indecent assault.
