Suspect arrested following fatal South Philly shooting

A 23-year-old man was killed in a shooting early Thursday morning outside Pat’s King of Steaks in South Philadelphia, police said.

The suspected shooter, who turned himself in a short time later, reportedly got into an argument with the victim while waiting in line just before 1 a.m. at the cheesesteak shop, located at 9th Street and Passyunk Avenue.

Authorities said the man sustained a gunshot wound to his lower back and died just before 1:30 a.m. at Jefferson University Hospital. Investigators have not identified the man who was arrested.

Several minutes later, just after 1 a.m., officers responding to a report of a shooting found a 24-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his head inside a home on the 5600 block of Warrington Avenue in Kingsessing.

Medics pronounced him dead at the scene. An arrest was made, but police did not reveal further information.

A 40-year-old man was taken to Temple University Hospital in critical condition after being shot multiple times in the upper body at around 6 a.m. Thursday outside on the 2600 block of W. Silver Street in North Philadelphia, police said.

Earlier, just before 5 a.m., a man, described by authorities as around 20 years old, was stabbed several times in the chest and abdomen on the 2900 block of N. Front Street in Kensington.

Officers rushed him to Temple University Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.

In other news, police identified two teenage boys who were killed in a triple shooting that occurred in broad daylight Wednesday in West Philadelphia.

Kaylin Jahad Johnson, 16, and Tommie Frazier, 18, were fatally shot at around noon on the 200 block of N. 56th Street, according to authorities.

The third victim, a 16-year-old boy, was taken to the hospital with a wound to his shoulder and is expected to survive.
