Police are looking for an alleged petty drug dealer in connection with the murder of a Penn State student during a robbery that turned fatal earlier this month.
Homicide Capt. James Clark said Thursday police have an arrest warrant for Jeffrey Little, 19, in the murder of Mohan Varughese on May 9. Authorities claim Varughese, 23, was visiting his girlfriend on North Camac Street in North Philadelphia when Little stuck a gun in his face and demanded the keys to his motorcycle. Varughese did not comply and the gunman shot him three times in the chest and face. He later died at a nearby hospital.
Little’s residence is listed as the 2100 block of North Marvine Street, a few blocks from where the incident took place. He was arrested three times in 2010 for drug possession and pleaded guilty in January to possession with the intent to deliver, according to online court records.
A $2,500 reward is being offered for information leading to Little’s arrest. Friends of Varughese set up a Facebook page to honor the psychology major, who was set to graduate days before he was killed.
Little is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 215-686-3334 or 3335.
