Suspect sought in Hunting Park killing

Police released surveillance video Monday of a man wanted in connection with a homicide last month in the city’s Hunting Park neighborhood.

The fatal shooting occurred at around 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 9, on the 1100 block of W. Lycoming Avenue, authorities said.

Investigators said the gunman was driving a black Dodge Ram and following the victim, a 50-year-old man who had apparently just stolen a black Chevrolet Impala from the 1000 block of W. Schiller Street in North Philadelphia.

The suspect hopped out of his truck, and the footage shows him firing multiple shots through the driver’s side window of the Impala. Authorities said the victim died a short time later.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Homicide Unit at 215-686-3334/3335; call or text 215-686-8477; or submit an anonymous tip at phillypolice.com/forms/submit-a-tip.

The city offers a $20,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in a homicide case.
