Authorities are asking for the public’s help to identify a man who allegedly robbed two stores at gunpoint on the same Germantown block.
On New Year’s Eve, at around 8:30 a.m., the suspect entered the Rite Aid pharmacy at 164 W. Chelten Avenue and acted like he was going to buy something, investigators said. When the cashier opened the register, he pulled out a silver handgun, according to police.
The man left the store with cash and 25 packs of Newport cigarettes, authorities said. Police released surveillance images and footage of the robbery Wednesday.
Detectives believe the same suspect on Jan. 8 robbed a Dollar General across the street.
Anyone with information about the robberies is asked to contact the PPD’s Northwest Detective Division at 215-686-3353/3354; call or text 215-686-8477; or go to www.phillypolice.com/forms/submit-a-tip.
