Suspicious device prompts evacuation of Rittenhouse Square

Police evacuatedRittenhouse Square Tuesday afternoon after a suspicious device was reported in the Center City park.

Police told Metro that the bomb squad was called in after a beeping device was reported in the north side of the park.

After a short, yet tense investigation that closed the area to pedestrians and traffic, police discovered the device was an old carbon monoxide detector that was beeping from the trash.
