Tacony man shoots neighbor over dog poop dispute

Police are investigating a shooting death in Tacony that reportedly occurred over dog poop.

Police said that a man, 46, went to his neighbor’s house on the 6500 block of Torresdale Avenue around 4:08 p.m. to complain about the neighbor’s dog, who was reportedly using his lawn as a toilet.

The resident, 27, was licensed to carry and had a holstered gun on his side, police said. According to initial information received by police, the 46-year-old grabbed the gun and a struggle ensued.

The 27-year-old then regained control of the gun and shot the 46-year-old twice in the neck. The victim was pronounced on the scene at 4:20 p.m.

The 27-year-old shooter is in custody, but it is unknown if any charges will be filed. The investigation is ongoing.
