Who isn’t crazy for cookies?

Stores specializing in these crave-able confections have become commonplace in Philadelphia, but Taylor Chip is bringing its own creative curve to the Philly cookie scene beginning next month with a special grand opening in partnership with the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

Known not just for its cookies but also for its coffee and—once the Philadelphia locations open—ice cream, the ultimate one-stop dessert shop is set to debut in Philadelphia on Sept. 14, while providing cookies to the patients and families at CHOP.

The Lancaster County company’s desire to open not one but two stores in the City of Brotherly Love stems from a joint belief in the importance of community. It’s that very sense of community that led to Taylor Chip’s collaboration with CHOP. For every cookie sold at their grand opening, Taylor Chip will donate one to CHOP for the children under their care. The amount of care CHOP has provided to Greater Philadelphia cannot be put into words, and many more in and around the area continue to be impacted by the non-profit charitable organization.

Taylor Chip’s connection to CHOP goes beyond a distant appreciation

“This is a program that carries a lot of meaning for me,” said Cameron Broadhurst, creative director of Taylor Chip. “CHOP has been there for my family since I was a kid. I remember sleeping on the couches next to my little brother when my family would take him in for treatments his whole life. He later passed away at CHOP after being diagnosed with Burkitt lymphoma in 2018 and I’m just super thankful for the support CHOP has given my family. CHOP instantly came to mind when we thought of different ways to get involved in the Philly community. They did so much for my brother—we want to give back to CHOP, bringing the same comfort they brought to my family to others.”

The entirety of Taylor Chip shares that appreciation for CHOP.

“We at Taylor Chip want to support Philly families in need,” said Doug Taylor, CEO and co-founder of Taylor Chip.” As a father myself, I’ve witnessed first-hand the tremendous work CHOP puts into this great city. This is the start of many opportunities to give back to the community that’s supported us.”

Founded in 2018, Taylor Chip’s history goes back even further, beginning with a baking date night between Doug and Sara Taylor. An attempt to find the perfect cookie recipe turned into a life-long journey and business venture as the couple, now married their company continues to grow, as has their family. The Taylor’s pride themselves and their company on their use of more natural ingredients, skipping shortening and high-fructose corn syrup for natural butter and house-made syrups—and even including vegan options on their menu, allowing folks to enjoy the delicious tastes of the big three: cookies, coffee, and (ice) cream while allowing those who enjoy their tasty treats to feel good about it.
