A 16-year-old boy was killed, and a 15-year-old girl was injured in separate shootings Tuesday, police said.

Police responded shortly after 4 p.m. to the 1200 block of Van Kirk Street in Oxford Circle, where officers found 16-year-old Jamil Wyatt with four gunshot wounds to his upper body, authorities said. He was taken to Jefferson Frankford Hospital, where he died a short time later, according to police.

Investigators said Wyatt was walking along a back driveway on his way to the store when three suspects opened fire and chased him. They continued shooting after he fell to the ground, the PPD said.

Police Staff Inspector Ernest Ransom told reporters Wednesday that detectives recovered 60 fired cartridge casings from the driveway.

The gunmen, who were wearing black clothing and ski masks, fled the area in a white 2013 Nissan Sentra, police said. Investigators believe he may have been targeted but no details have been released about a possible motive. The PPD has not reported any arrests.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the department’s Homicide Unit at 215-686-3334 or call or text 215-686-TIPS (8477). The city offers a $20,000 reward for tips leading to an arrest or conviction in a homicide case.

Later, at around 8:15 p.m. Tuesday, a 15-year-old girl was shot in the neck on the 1400 block of W. Loudon Street in Logan, authorities said. Officers transported her to Einstein Medical Center, where she remained in critical condition Wednesday.

No arrests were made in the immediate aftermath of the shooting. Detectives believe a woman in her early or mid-30s opened fire from a dark gray Chevy Malibu during an altercation on the street. Deputy Police Commissioner Frank Vanore said Wednesday that detectives think the teen had an ongoing dispute with other women or girls in the area.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the PPD’s Shooting Investigations Group at 215-686-8270 or call or text 215-686-TIPS (8477).
