High school student Nasheen Anderson was sentenced to four years in juvenile lock-up Monday after pleading guilty to charges of witness intimidation via Twitter, Newsworks reported.
Anderson, 17, was tried as a juvenile. He pled guilty on Dec. 4 to witness intimidation and terroristic threats for posting information that was meant to be kept confidential on his Twitter feed, including victim photos and photos of statements made to detectives.
Prosecutors wanted Anderson tried as an adult for contributing to the “no snitches” culture which is rampant in Philadelphia. That request was denied by a Family Court judge.
Anderson, of East Germantown, reportedly at one point posted an image with information identifying witnesses of two 2012 shootings and a 2007 homicide, captioned “EXPOSE ALL RATS.”
Anderson’s Twitter account had 2,400 followers. A student at Martin Luther King High School, Anderson was arrested at the school in November after he was identified as the person behind the Twitter account.
However, Anderson was not behind the well-known “Rats215” Instagram account, which publicly posted details about more than 30 witnesses to violent crimes around Philly.
