Joyner-Francis was the victim of a beating in a bathroom at Howard High School of Technology in Wilmington, authorities have alleged.

Earlier, authorities announced that charges could be coming pending the results of a medical examiner’s report.

That report found Joyner-Francis died due to a heart condition, but that she would not have died had she not been attacked, according to a statement from the Delaware Department of Justice.
