Two teenagers were wounded in separate shootings Saturday night in Northeast Philadelphia, authorities said.
Gunfire struck a 16-year-old girl just before 8:30 p.m. at Fox Chase Recreation Center, located at Rockwell Avenue and Ridgeway Street, according to police. Medics took her to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital, where she was listed in stable condition, officials said.
Earlier, just after 7 p.m., someone shot a 15-year-old boy in the leg on the 800 block of Brill Street in the Summerdale neighborhood, investigators said. His injuries are also not considered life-threatening, according to the PPD.
No arrests were reported in the aftermath of the shootings, and authorities have not commented on a possible motive in either case. Anyone with information is asked to call or text the PPD tip line at 215-686-TIPS (8477).
Through Sept. 7, 90 youth under the age of 18 had been killed or injured in shootings this year, down nearly 11% compared to the same date in 2024, according to a dashboard maintained by the Philadelphia Center for Gun Violence Reporting.
PPD data shows that the number of shooting victims of all ages has dropped about 10% from last year.
