Four people, including three teenagers, were injured when a man opened fire inside a SEPTA bus Saturday evening in Brewerytown, police said.
Investigators believe the suspect, described as being in his early 40s, began shooting during a verbal altercation with a group of teens. The incident happened at around 6:15 p.m. aboard the Route 15 bus at 33rd Street and Girard Avenue, adjacent to Fairmount Park.
A 14-year-old boy was shot in his left hand, and a 16-year-old boy was struck in his right foot, according to authorities. Police said another 16-year-old boy received a graze wound to his back. All three were taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center and listed in stable condition, the PPD added.
Authorities said a bullet grazed a 39-year-old woman’s shoulder. She received treatment at the scene and refused further medical attention, according to investigators.
Police said the gunman fled the bus and ran across 33rd Street. The PPD stated that he was reportedly wearing a red hat and a black zip-up jacket at the time of the shooting. No arrests were made at the time Metro went to print Sunday.
