The Temple football team looks to keep its momentum going after back-to-back bowl appearances and program best seasons as they release the slate of games for their 2017 campaign.
The Owls will open the season on Sep. 2 at Notre Dame on ESPN, looking for their first ever win against the Irish. ND was nearly upset two seasons ago when they visited the Linc (on a weekend when ESPN’s College Gameday was in town) and many players from that loss remain — looking for revenge.
New head coach Geoff Collins obviously wasn’t with the Owls yet, but is excited for his team’s national exposure. Temple will play at least four games on national television in 2017.
“What a great time to be an Owl,” said Collins. “Whether on the road and on national television, or at Lincoln Financial Field against some of the best in college football, Temple is now recognized as a Top 25 program. People will watch us play and see championship football every play — from snap to whistle.”
Awaygames againstUSF (ESPN) and Cincinnati (ESPN2) as well as at home against Navy(ESPN or ESPN2) will be national broadcasts. Other home games include Villanova, UMass, Houston, UConn and UCF.
The Owls other opponents in 2017 are East Carolina, Army and Tulsa, all on the road.
