Temple Student Exchanges Gunfire With Would-Be Robber

Police are investigating an attempted robbery that left a Temple University student, who fought back, critically injured.

A suspect approached the student on the 2300 block of N. 12th Street shortly before 2 a.m. and attempted to rob him. When the student refused, the suspect opened fire. The armed student exchanged fire.

The student, 21, was shot once in the stomach and taken to Temple in critical condition. The would-be robber, 15, was shot in the chest and leg and was also taken to Temple in critical condition.

Both of their conditions have been downgraded to stable. Police plan on filing charges against the failed robber.
