Joe Mixon dominated during his Houston Texans debut, rallying to 159 yards and a touchdown against the Colts and getting a stunning 30 carries. That’s a lot of usage for a player with so many perimeter threats, but it’s what makes Houston so dangerous.
The Bears yielded 82 yards to Tony Pollard on just 16 carries last week, and this will be a game where keying in on the run will be much tougher due to the stars outside. Mixon is in a good spot to get over this total with ease.
Diggs only recorded 33 yards in his Texans debut, but he did score a pair of touchdowns. The Bears’ secondary is obviously a different challenge to Indianapolis, and while it’s hard to really grade them based on one week against a QB who threw for 127 yards, there’s at least reason to believe that they will struggle much more against an offense as good as this.
Diggs is always a threat to take the top off and in 4 games against the Titans, has 446 yards and 4 touchdowns. There should be some value here as a result.
The Heisman-winning QB completed just 48% of his passes for 93 yards in his NFL debut. He now comes up against one of the best defenses the AFC has to offer. While we can expect some improvement from his week 1 struggles, 250 yards does feel a little high, and this is a good price to back the under.
If we’re to assume that the Bears will make some changes in order to get the ball out of their rookies hands much quicker, this should mean that former Eagles running back D’Andre Swift gets used more in the passing game. He registered 214 receiving yards with the Eagles last year and has a history of being an asset as a receiving back. The Bears need to focus on screens and swings to build confidence early, and that should give Swift more traffic than we saw last week.
