McGillin’s Olde Ale House (1310 Drury St.)
The oldest operating tavern in Philadelphia is all about the sporting life, with its own brews (McGillin’s 1860 IPA, McGillin’s Real Ale, McGillin’s Genuine Lager), a handful of oversized TVs and a vibe that’s convivial, rowdy and downtown-y. Plus, though they advertise themselves as the ‘greenest’ Irish bar in their country with its sustainability and recycling initiatives, I like to imagine that means Eagles green.

C’mon, their grand opening in Sept 6, right in time for the Eagles 2018 season. Along with popping its cork on the season, this upscale, 10,000-square-foot sprawler goes two ways: $5 16-oz. Bud Light Eagles bottle during Eagles games for the everyday Joe, projection walls and bottle bar service in VIP areas and 20 HDTVs for all. Somo SoPhi (3101 S. 13th St.)
You know how you pray for that extra point or that last minute reception? Philly-born footballer Jahri Evans – currently a free agent – has played for New Orleans’ Saints, Seattle’s Seahawks and Green Bay’s Packers before returning home for season. As a teen, though, he played for Frankford High. All of these things combined make him the perfect candidate to open (with wife Takia Evans and Somo Manayunk’s James Morrissey) a sports bar-ish lounge that comes complete with Eagles’ green moss as part of its décor.
