The Fractals, the alternative-indie-rock foursome, will release a brand new four-song EP titled ‘Rescue’ on Friday, May 30. That same day, the band will mark the event with a release celebration performance at 118 North in Wayne, Pennsylvania.

Composed of accomplished Philly musicians Kevin Hanson (vocalist, guitarist and songwriter), Jim Stager (bassist), Erik Johnson (drummer), and Mike Frank (keyboardist/theremin enthusiast), the members of the Fractals may sound familiar, and they should. Hanson, Stagerm, and Johnson have played together for over three decades, formerly as members of the band Huffamoose.

With this new four-song EP, the band explores the overarching desire to collectively survive an international governmental apocalypse in 2025.

“We had a blast recording this music,” says Hanson. “We are so excited for our fans, old and new, to hear it. We’ve got a lot of years and a lot of miles together, and making music for us is still a joy and adventure. We just rely more on ESP these days.”

Among the songs to be released is the unique yet relatable “Christopher Walken,” a direct address to a close friend who believes he does a fantastic impression of actor Christopher Walken — everybody knows somebody who thinks they do a great impression of Christopher Walken. Coincidentally, everybody knows somebody who isn’t aware just how bad their Christopher Walker impression is.

In this song, the singer’s job is to gently break it to their friend that his impression is not only not good, but the absolute worst, and they’d be better off with any other popular impression. This track, based on hilarious real-life events, is nothing if not both fun and relatable.
