The historic Colonial Theatre always packs its schedule full of creative entertainment, and this fall is no different—in fact, it’s bigger than ever, promising fun for all ages and interests.
For one, on Oct. 3, the venue will host a special screening of Tina Fey’s ‘Mean Girls’ (and audiences can don their best pink attire to celebrate.) The months of September and October will also feature various Hispanic film screenings in honor of National Hispanic Heritage Month (with films like ‘Selena’ and ‘Encanto’), and then on Oct. 18, the venue will transform into “a haven for horror fans,” with an all-night horror-thon featuring films like ‘Ghostbusters’, ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’, and ‘Nosferatu.’

Fall also marks the return of the highly anticipated Phoenixville Film Festival, which will kick off on Sept. 18 for its third year. With screenings happening until Sept. 21, the festival will showcase a mixed lineup of film screenings alongside interactive events, including filmmaker panels, hands-on workshops, and a closing awards ceremony. Another packed cinema line-up comes from Noir City. The popular film noir festival will be in full swing Nov. 14 to 16, with this year’s schedule tailored to celebrate and “shine a spotlight on women whose cinematic legacy is entwined with the rise of film noir.”
Other stand-alone film events will also take place on Oct. 2 and 4. The former is presented in partnership with Here and Now Crafts. On that evening, audiences are invited to bring along their favorite crafting projects and get creative while enjoying a special screening of the cult classic ‘The Craft.’ The latter on the other hand, will celebrate the 50th anniversary of ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show’ with a special late-night screening. The festivities kick off at 9 p.m. with a lively Time Warp flash mob right outside the theatre, followed by a costume contest and themed specialty drinks before the film begins.

As a release notes, the Colonial Theatre is also celebrating Halloween all October long by offering a variety of spooky film screenings, including ‘Son of Frankenstein’ on Oct. 8, Ivan Reitman’s ‘Ghostbusters’ on Oct. 11, ‘E.T.’ on Oct. 18, ‘Halloween’ on Oct. 24, Tim Burton’s ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’ on Oct. 25, and the spine chilling film ‘The Six Sense’ on Oct. 26.
Lastly, The Colonial offers a variety of concerts and late-night entertainment throughout the year in all its theatres and event spaces. This year will include performances from the Phoenixville-based indie folk and rock group Tucked In (Sept. 12), Better Than Bacon (Sept. 26), guitar virtuoso Eric Johnson (Oct. 1), and Tribute bands Know Return and Fooling Ourselves (Nov. 8).
