If you needed a reason to head down to Wilmington, The Playhouse on Rodney Square at The Grand is giving you multiple of them—and they’re all quite show-stopping.

The creative locale recently announced its Broadway season, which kicked off subscription sales this month (single tickets will be available on a later date.) The titles for the 2025/26 Broadway in Wilmington season have won a collective 20 Tony Awards and 2 Grammy Awards, and all shows will take place in the newly remodeled and enhanced venue, attached to the historic Hotel DuPont.

First up is a fan-favorite classic, ‘Mrs. Doubtfire.’ Based on the 1993 film of the same name ‘Mrs. Doubtfire‘ tells the story of the Hillard family, and after a messy divorce, Daniel ends up taking on the incognito role of his kid’s nanny, Euphegenia Doubtfire in an effort to spend more time with them. The internationally acclaimed hit musical has critics calling it “wonderful, heart-warming, and laugh-out-loud funny” (Manchester Evening News) and “a feel-good, family-friendly comedy that delivers” (The Hollywood Reporter). The tale will hit the stage from Sept. 26 to 28.

Also included in a subscription is the wildly-popular show ‘The Book of Mormon‘ (set to hit the stage next year from March 27-29.) As a release notes, this musical comedy follows the adventures of a mismatched pair of missionaries, sent halfway across the world to spread the Good Word. With standing-room-only productions in London, on Broadway, and across North America, the show has been described as a “sensation” that needs to be seen.

‘Kinky Boots’ is next on the list, and locals will be able to catch this musical—which won six Tony Awards including Best Musical, the Grammy for Best Musical Theatre album, and London’s Olivier Award for Best Musical—from May 8-10, 2026.

An official description for the show describes it following Charlie Price, who has reluctantly inherited his father’s shoe factory, which is on the verge of bankruptcy. Trying to live up to his father’s legacy and save his family business, Charlie finds inspiration in the form of Lola, a fabulous entertainer in need of some sturdy stilettos. The score features music from pop powerhouse Cindi Lauper, plus, a book by four-time Tony winner, Harvey Fierstein, and original direction and Tony-winning choreography by Jerry Mitchell.

And for the final cap on the season, ‘The Music Man’ will hit the stage next year from June 5 to 7.  The show takes place in River City, Iowa where a “fast-talking salesman gets his heart stolen by the town librarian.” The six-time, Tony Award-winning musical comedy focuses on Harold Hill as he cons the people of the city into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys’ band that he vows to organize.

“Our entire team is eager to welcome you to Wilmington for a one-of-a-kind Broadway experience,” said Skip Pennella, Executive Director of The Grand, in a statement.

As a release notes, current subscribers will be contacted directly about renewing their seats to Broadway in Wilmington. Additional subscriber benefits include priority seating ahead of the public, free parking, seating flexibility, priority tickets for season specials (to be announced at a later date), and more.
