The Sidecar Bar & Grille makes brunch more kid-friendly

Brunch is typically associated with twentysomethings recovering from hangovers with decadent food and even more decadent cocktails (the hair of the dog, you know?). The Sidecar Bar & Grille has decided to shake up that conception entirely, however, by making brunch an experience for the whole family. Beginning Saturday, Oct. 14, they’re starting brunch service earlier, adding a Rival Bros.Coffee Happy Hour, new kids’ trays and more.

“Chef Brian and I are both dads so we understand the struggles of weekend mornings with young children,” says General Manager, Jonathan Makar. “The kids are awake and hungry by 7:30 am. There aren’t many kid-friendly, early morning dining options in our neighborhood.”

While the young and single prefer boozy brunches, people with kids could always use extra caffeine. The addition of the Rival Bros. Coffee Happy Hour will feature cups of coffee for just 25 cents between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m.

You can even blissfully sip away as your children immerse themselves in their kids’ tray, which features a coloring placement and crayons. What’s more, the meal options for kids are super healthy and hands-on, with each entree being served with cheese, fruit, wheat thins and organic apple juice. Entrees for kids include cereal & milk ($5), apples & peanut Butter ($5), little pancakes ($6), oatmeal ($5), two hard-boiled eggs ($5) or sausages ($6).

“We wanted to create a tray that offers a well-balanced meal but also keeps the kids entertained so parents can enjoy a cup of coffee and a sit-down breakfast with the whole family,” says Makar.

And of course, there are plenty of scrumptious brunch options for grownups, too. Sidecar classics include the buttermilk biscuit & gravy ($10), bbq pork benedict ($14), and buttermilk biscuit sandwich ($10). New additions to the menu include the kinky burger (two patties, crispy poached egg, gruyere and truffle mayo) for $11 and the kale caesar salad (baby kale, garlic-infused caesar dressing, croutons and Parmigiana Reggiano) for $12.

There will even be a crepe du jour being offered during brunch for only $12.

On top of all this, guests will enjoy complimentary baskets of scones, biscotti and nut bread with whipped butter and jam.

“Sometimes brunch should be a family affair,” says Makar. “And now it will be, at The Sidecar Bar & Grille.”
