The Walnut Club still offers Philly’s professional women a chance to connect

In this day and age, having a network of empowering women is always helpful, and in the age of COVID-19, being able to get that network virtually is extremely beneficial. The Walnut Club, Philly’s own premium networking and social organization, is offering the city’s community of professional women just that.

To keep its mission going strong, The Walnut Club, who was also recently named a top networking organization by Philadelphia Magazine, has taken some creative approaches to handle social distancing. Even though most events and gatherings are at a stand-still for the time being, there is no slowing down the ambition of a career-driven woman or the need to connect with others, which is why The Walnut has made sure to continue to support women through virtual programming.

The Club was founded in 2015 as a community where, according to the release, like-minded professional women in the Greater Philadelphia region could connect with and support one another by building strong, meaningful relationships. That core mission is still something members can establish today, just in a different format.

“When we realized we’d have to shift our programming from in-person to online, we quickly brainstormed ways to leverage our greatest asset: our members! There is so much great thought leadership within our membership that it was easy to fill our event calendar with virtual programming and social gatherings,” said Marla Katz, co-president of The Walnut Club in a release.

Each event is created and run by Walnut Club members with some of the events being open to the public, giving non-members a unique opportunity to see what the club is all about.

The next event will take place this Tuesday, April 28, at 5:30 p.m. This particular event however will be just for Walnut Club members and will focus on “Creating Powerful Intentions During Challenging Times,” a sentiment that we can all relate to now especially. The event is free, and will be led by Marion Biglan, a certified professional coach and the Philadelphia leader of the international women’s leadership program, Tide Risers.

Non-members can  check out another exclusive webinar through The Walnut Club next Thursday, April 30, at 6 p.m. for just $5 (the event is free for members.) Next Thursday’s event will focus on “The Importance of B Corp Status in Preserving Your Business’s Purpose and Mission” and will be hosted by Kyra Kaszynski, the Inclusive Growth Lead for Global Public Policy at Deloitte alongside special guest, Grace Manning, the Head of Impact at Saxbys.

The next event slotted on the virtual agenda will be held Saturday, May 2, at 2 p.m. Members and non-members can join in on the ‘Annual Sojourner Truth Walk: Celebrating Girls’ & Women’s Leadership,’ which aims to raise funds to provide scholarships for girls to go to Camp Sojourner, a nonprofit program for Philadelphia girls that focuses on team-building, leadership development, creative arts and the appreciation of nature. The website states that this fundraiser will also help support year-round leadership activities, including online programming efforts, which are free for girls and families. After registering online, more details for this specific event will be provided.
