La Fête du Canard at Forsythia
There’s a delicious event happening at Forsythia for one night only this weekend. On Jan. 11, Philadelphians can indulge in La Fête du Canard — a celebration of chef Christopher Kearse’s highly acclaimed Dry–Aged Rohan Duck.
As a release notes, La Fête du Canard is the next installment of Kearse’s successful, monthly “French AF” series which focuses on highlighting various elements of French gastronomy through five carefully crafted dishes. Highlights for the meal on Jan. 11 include Hudson Valley Foie Gras and Duck Confit Terrine, Sassafras Roasted Duck Breast, Baba au Rhum and much more.
Dinner is $95 per person, plus tax and tip. Reservations are highly encouraged and can be made online.

Philly Goat Project Christmas Tree-Cycle
The Philly Goat Project’s annual Christmas Tree-Cycle is returning for its sixth year, and will take place this Saturday, Jan. 13 (rain date is Jan. 14) at The Farm at Awbury Arboretum from noon to 3 p.m.
And what exactly happens while here? According to a release, donated Christmas trees will become snacks for the goats and/or turned into wood chips used to cover trails in city parks and community gardens throughout Philadelphia, thanks to a partnership with the Philadelphia Streets Department. There is a $20 donation requested per Christmas tree, which goes to support the Philly Goat Project’s free year-round programming.
Beyond the Christmas tree drop, activities during the farm festival will include a large fire pit with free s’mores, free hot cocoa, farm Olympics games for kids, and a petting area with the goats. So, you don’t need a tree to come out and enjoy your time with the whole family. More information can be found online.

‘beLONGING’
Last weekend held the opening for a new art exhibit at InLiquid Gallery. The fresh showcase, ‘beLONGING’, is the venue’s first exhibition of the new year, and it highlights the work of four Philadelphia area LGBTQIA+ artists: Carmel Dor, THECOLORG, Abbey Muza, and Meg Wolensky.
The interactive exhibit’s opening also coincides with the Gallery’s 50th Anniversary of ‘FOCUS’ which premiered in 1974. This new activation is meant to showcase LGBTQIA+ experiences of self-realization and finding community.

Love Notes: Note to Self
Love Notes: Notes to Self will kick off this Saturday, Jan. 13, in Headhouse Square. This event is described in the release as a special collaboration of PA-based businesses looking to highlight unique, world-class artists that make Philadelphia their home. Performances throughout the evening will be from creatives with resumes spanning The Metropolitan Opera, Carnegie Hall, The Hollywood Bowl and other venues across the US and Europe.
On top of all of the musical performances, Philadelphians will also be able to indulge in two complimentary beverages from Top Dog Cocktails. Performances are at 6:30 p.m. (doors open at 6 p.m.) and 9:30 p.m. (doors open at 9 p.m.) at Society Hill Dance Academy. Tickets (available online) are $35 for general admission and $50 for VIP.

Dilworth Park Winter Happenings
With the holidays over and the winter season in full swing, the excitement doesn’t have to die down in the city, especially not at Dilworth Park. On top of the Rothman Orthopaedics Ice Rink and Cabin being open through Feb. 25, the venue’s Wintergarden will also remain open until March 17, and upcoming events will entice visitors at both locations.
With skating, Philadelphians can reserve 90-minute ice skating sessions online. Admission is $6 for children 10 and younger, and $9 for adults; skate rental is $10 per person and discounts are available for groups of 10 or more.
The Wintergarden on the other hand is chock full of twinkling lights, reindeer topiaries and woodland décor. It will be on site until the spring, and after that, Wintergarden’s plant material will be repurposed after the garden is disassembled to further beautify CCD parks and planters throughout downtown Philadelphia.
