NoLibs Espresso Martini Crawl

In honor of National Espresso Martini Day, Northern Liberties is debuting a new Espresso Martini Crawl, featuring 14 different bars and restaurants in the area. As a release notes, participating spots will feature at least one (if not more) specially-priced espresso martinis for $8, $10 and/or $12. Plus they will offer at least one espresso/coffee-infused dish to pair with their libations. 

Participating venues span Añejo Philadelphia, Bar1010, Bourbon and Branch, Cantina Dos Segundos, El Camino Real, Figo Italian, Jerry’s Bar North 3rd, North Bowl, SET NoLibs, SIN Steak Italian Nightlife, Silk City Standard Tap and Urban Village Brewing Company. 

Additionally, Madison K Cupcakes will offer up Espresso Martini themed cupcakes and cookies and C-Room Nails and Spa will offer their signature coffee-infused manicure and pedicure treatments in everything from Milk and Honey Latte to Espresso to Americano and more.

Philadelphia Organ Festival

A new event is coming to the City of Brotherly Love, and with it, locals can discover the region’s trove of historic pipe organs in some of the area’s most scenic venues. The first-ever Philadelphia Organ Festival will be in full swing from March 15 to 23, and tickets are currently on sale for the inaugural activation.

The Philadelphia Organ Festival will hold concerts at places like the Girard College Chapel, St. Luke’s Germantown, Tindley Temple, Rodeph Shalom, Longwood Gardens, the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts and more.

The festival’s inspired programs showcase the organ as a partner in music of many styles and eras, in pairings with vocalists, period instruments, and in rarely-heard collaborations with percussion and contemporary music ensembles, the release notes. Tickets ($30) are currently on sale (discounted rates will be offered to students and seniors), as are festival packages, which give Philadelphians access to all eight concerts for a single rate.

Philly Bike Expo

The Philly Bike Expo will be in full swing this weekend on March 16 and 17, at the Pennsylvania Convention Center, and with it comes 140+ bicycle industry exhibitors and a full schedule of seminars, demonstrations, rides and parties. Highlights from the experience span Coaching 101 from professional cyclists, hill climbing tips and tricks, a kids arena, 4 films to watch and 11 rides to choose from that vary in distance, pace, terrain and destination. 

The Philly Bike Expo will also host a pre-party at Velo Jawn on March 15, and an after-party at Keystone Bicycle on March 16. Tickets and a full list of events and happenings can be found online.

Manhattan Contemporary Chamber Ensemble

Philadelphians can head to the coastal town of Atlantic City to check out a performance from the Manhattan Contemporary Chamber Ensemble at Saint Nicholas of Tolentine Church. The group will be performing the music of J.S. Bach, Hoffmeister, and Matiegka, and proceeds will benefit the restoration of the site. 

Featuring Richard Auldon Clark on the violin and viola, Christine Moulton on the flute and Matthew Slotkin on the guitar, The Parish of Saint Monica will put on the show this Saturday, March 16, at 7 p.m. Tickets run for $30 and more information can be found online.

Mermaids at the CAA

Now through March 17 (Thursdays through Sundays) Philadelphians can head to the CAA for Mer-World, the venue’s annual activation that features “real-life” mermaids diving among its collection of sandbar, sand tiger and nurse sharks.

The underwater experience happens in the Shark Realm, and guests can interact and take photos with mermaids in front of a movie-screen-sized window while they’re in the 550,000-gallon exhibit. The activation will also feature meet and greets with mermaids, crafts for kids and plenty of themed food and drinks—like the Mermaid Cotton Candy Dippin’ Dots (cotton candy flash-frozen ice cream bites), Under the Sea Lemonade (blue raspberry lemonade topped with gummy sea stars and sea turtles) and more.

While visiting, guests are also encouraged to check out the aquarium’s newest augmented reality experience, the Imagination Sand Station, the release also notes. This multi-sensory experience is an engaging and unique way for kids to learn about the earth, geography, and science through hands-on exploration. You may even see the animals that call each of these environments home while there.
