Looking for some fun and unique things to do in Philly this weekend? We’ve got you covered. 

Spirit of NOLA at Ardmore Music Hall 

Ardmore Music Hall’s special event celebrating the music and legacies of New Orleans icons Art Neville and Dr. John takes place this Friday, March 11. The aim of the show keeps the spirit of Mardi Gras going with collaborative sets headlined by band director John “Papa” Gros, Leo Nocentelli (The Meters), Big Sam and The New Orleans Suspects. As a release states, hosts David Dye and Julian Booker of Philadelphia’s WXPN will also be spinning vinyl throughout the evening between sets and different VIP packages are also available. Those packages include a two-hour open bar and a “Geaux Big” dinner menu curated by Ondawood Ripplewood Whiskey & Craft’s ghost kitchen with food options including po’boys, muffalettas, gumbo and New Orleans-inspired drink specials to pair with the sounds of The Big Easy. Doors open at 6:45 p.m. and the music begins at 8 p.m.

Sister Sunday 

The Logan Hotel will be celebrating International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month in Philly by hosting Sister Sunday—an all-women-owned small business market hosted in their courtyard. From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on March 13, shoppers can peruse through 25+ vendors boasting fancy cheese displays, breweries, classy picnics, community toy libraries, kid gymnastics, jewelry, PHL tie-dye and more. As a release states, the free market allows for locals and travelers alike to shop within the community and support the powerful women in Philadelphia. There will also be live music, food and drink from Urban Farmer and some soft lounge seating for people to enjoy while supporting all the local girl bosses.

Girl Scout History at the Betsy Ross House

This Saturday, March 12, the Betsy Ross will be offering a day full of free programming all about the history of Girl Scouts. From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Girl Scout founder Juliette Gordon Low will meet guests in the courtyard to tell the story of the movement she started 110 years ago and A Once Upon A Nation Storyteller will share short, interactive stories of the Girl Scouts’ history. Cadette troop 9957 and senior troop 9517 based in West Philadelphia will also be on hand to lead two craft activities and, of course, sell cookies along the way. Then on Sunday, Once Upon A Nation Storytellers will be sharing short, interactive stories that highlight women’s contributions to history. Devil’s Den

There are two reasons to head to this South Philly hotspot if you’re looking for things to do in Philly this weekend. First up, on Thursday, March 10 at 7 p.m., visitors and true crime-enthusiasts can head to Devil’s Den for ‘Phelonius 2.0: Murder and Mayhem in the City of Brotherly Love,’ presented by homicide investigator Sarah Cailean. The evening focuses on both noted and obscure cases in Philadelphia’s crime history, with themed trivia and prizes available for guests to partake in throughout the event. Imbibers can also select their drink of choice from an extensive selection of featured brews from Philadelphia-based breweries such as Love City Brewing Company, and Yard’s Brewing Company. Tickets are $15 per person and are available online.

Then, on Sunday, the fan-favorite Drag Me to the Den returns after a brief hiatus at 2 p.m. As a release states, this will be a boozy brunch edition featuring local Drag Queens and Kings including Sutton Fearce and Ivana Blackout. Attendees can enjoy elaborate performances while sampling new, seasonal brunch fare and sipping on $5 Mimosas and Bloody Marys. For those who are unable to attend the Sunday soirée, a second Drag Me to the Den will also take place on Thursday, March 24 at 8 p.m. featuring ensembles from an all-star line-up including Sapphira Crista, Buttakup, and Zephyra Rivers. A release also states that while there, diners can enjoy featured brews from Brewery Ommegang and Duvel Moortgat Brewery and spirited cocktails including the Glamazon composed of vodka, elderflower and champagne; and The Shade crafted with vodka, mint syrup, lime, ginger beer and butterfly pea tea.
