Three men were killed and two other wounded in three separate shootings on Saturday and early Sunday.
A triple shooting on the 400 block of Norris Street in North Philadelphia claimed the life of one man, 23, early this morning. He was shot multiple times in the chest and died at Temple Hospital shortly before 2 a.m.
In the same incident, a second man, who authorities have been unable to identify, was shot multiple times in the groin and attempted to drive himself to Temple Hospital. He crashed his vehicle at 11th and Norris streets and is currently in critical condition. The third victim, 19, was shot in the torso and drove himself to Episcopal Hospital, where he was placed in critical condition. He has since been upgraded to stable.
A man was shot and killed in East Germantown Saturday afternoon. The victim, 21, was hit once in the chest at Nelson Street and East Woodlawn Avenue and was rushed to Albert Einstein Medical Center, where he died around 3:30 p.m.
A man, 45, was shot once in the stomach around 9:45 a.m. Saturday morning on the 400 block of West Cumberland Street in North Philadelphia, about a half a mile from the triple shooting on Norris Street. He was rushed to Temple University Hospital in critical condition, but died less than an hour later.
No arrests have yet been made in any of the incidents.
The victims bring Philadelphia’s homicide count for the first four months to 117, the highest year-to-date tally since Mayor Michael Nutter took office in 2008 and the highest total on this date since the notoriously violent year of 2007.
