Three-month-old dies in unlicensed daycare

A three-month-old child died in an unlicensed daycare in Northeast Philadelphia this afternoon.

Medics and police responded to the 1300 block of Hellerman Street shortly before noon and found that the baby was not breathing. They rushed him to St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children, where he was pronounced dead at 12:39 p.m.

Police said the cause of death is undetermined and that it is unclear if the daycare had been licensed at one point. The Special Victims Unit is investigating.
