Philly is a foodie city and the Philly Chef Conference is the ultimate way to show your appreciation for all things edible, tasty and culinary. Tickets recently went on sale for this exciting event that features more than 50 top chefs, hospitality experts and food journalists from around the world. Every foodie expert is in the City of Brotherly Love for this deliciously amazing event. Here is everything you need to know about the Philly Chef Conference.

Everything you need to know about the 2019 Philly Chef Conference

Drexel University sponsors the conference that is considered a staple in the city- and this year promises to be better than ever. “Our annual Chef’s Conference is the centerpiece of our year-round programming, bringing the best and brightest in the culinary world right to our students and industry professionals here in Philadelphia,” says VisitPhilly and Hospitality Management Program Director Mike Traud. “This year’s line-up is our most robust yet, and we can’t wait to welcome these luminaries to Philadelphia our city’s thriving restaurant culture with them.”

Although the official event begins on March 10 and runs until the 11, the fun starts on March 8 when the Center for Food and Hospitality Management, along with the Philly Chef Conference, will present a conversation between noted chef and cookbook author Edward Lee and Esquire food and drinks editor Jeff Gordinier. Seating for the 10 am event begins at 9:45 am followed by breakfast provided by Federal Donuts and La Colombe. (Academic Bistro, 101 N. 33rd Street, 6th Floor.) 

Philly Chef Conference

During the Philly Chef Conference, guests can expect to participate in Q&A sessions regarding the world of food science and its role in today’s restaurant industry with keynote speakers including  Arielle Johnson, Harold McGee,  Lane Selman, Diego Prado, Joshua Evans and Lars Williams. Then guests can also participate in the opening night ceremonies with more interesting discussions and refreshments from  Esquire’s Best New Restaurants Carnitas Lonja (San Antonio), Grand Café (Minneapolis), Hai Hai (Minneapolis), Petra and the Beast (Dallas), as well as hand-crafted cocktails from Esquire Beverage Director of the Year Marco Zappia of Martina (Minneapolis).

On Day 2 of the event, expect more interesting discussions including the changing world of modern food journalism, reporting in the #MeToo Era, exploring Session wines and wineries, exploring and tasting olive oil, apothecary culture behind the bar and many more. There will also be demo kitchen events to make the already zesty affair that much more juicy.
