For those feeling saucy this weekend, Berwyn Farmers’ Market is once again hosting its popular Tomatopalooza event. The open-air celebration will also coincide with the start of National Farmers’ Market Week, making it a double whammy in terms of celebration for the Chester County venue.
For the tomato portion of the event, visitors will be able to try samples in different forms of the summer produce at its peak, from heirlooms, to hybrids and everything in between. Locals will also find tomato-themed vendor items and gifts, a tomato themed step and repeat, and tomato themed baked goods while here.

Tomatopalooza is also Berwyn Farmers’ Market signature event to bring attention to National Farmers’ Market Week and its mission, a release notes. For over 25 years, this national celebration has highlighted the role that farmers’ markets play in the nation’s food systems and spotlights community and food access while supporting local vendors. As Berwyn Farmers’ Market organizers put it, farmers’ markets empower communities to support local growers, feed themselves, and reduce reliance on the fragile global supply chains.
The event will be in full swing this Sunday, Aug. 3, from 9 a.m. to noon and will also feature complimentary parking, gifts, art, food trucks serving up eats for lunch and breakfast, farm fresh produce, and the chance to meet the top local farmers and purveyors in the region.
Now in its third season, Berwyn Farmers’ Market is also offering expanded hours, 70+ curated vendors throughout the season, live music, weekly kids’ activities, and rotating charity partners. According to a release, each week features a mix of 25 to 30 local farmers, food artisans, artists, and makers, offering everything from farm-fresh produce and pasture-raised meats to baked goods, handmade gifts, small-batch coffee, and grab-and-go bites.

“National Farmers’ Market Week and Tomatopalooza are important to showcase the role of farmers’ markets in our community,” says Culinary Harvest and Berwyn Farmers’ Market Co-Owner Carlo Luciano. “Through our curated network of local producers and farmers, we hope to enhance the farm-to-table connection; educate the residents of the Main Line about the benefits of locally-grown food, from flavor to nutrient quality; and offer guidance on agricultural transparency and practices. In return, Main Line residents can directly support local producers, artisans and small businesses. It is a win-win for everyone.”
