Top outdoor bars in Philadelphia

Pick your scene and gobask in the sunat one of these four bars and restaurants.

People-watching:

Parc,227 S. 18th St.

Stephen Starr’s Rittenhouse restaurant, styled after a Parisian bistro, is set on the corner so it has two sidewalks lined with tables, but of course you’ll want to snag a spot alongside the Square. Those seats are conveniently set to face the action — no need to pretend you’re not here to sip a Kir Royale and watch the crowds go by.

Live music:

Morgan’s Pier,221 N. Columbus Blvd.

Morgan’s Pier has seats for 500 people in its enormous outdoor space right on the Delaware River, but doesn’t mean you’ll get one: This place gets packed. Fortunately it’s just as fun to grab a beer from the bar and wander. After dark, the lively crowd skews young and loud. It opens for the season tonight.

Games:

IndependenceBeer Garden,Sixth and Market streets

Philly’s love affair with beer gardens is nowhere more apparent than at Michael Schulson’s IBG in Old City, across from the Liberty Bell. There are 40 taps, long picnic tables, cozy seating areas, a 10-foot TV and, for playtime, ping pong, giant Jenga and shuffle board. It opened for the season yesterday.

Above it all:

Stratus,433 Chestnut St.

Go swank at the stylish Stratus Rooftop Lounge on top of the Hotel Monaco. The bar is rolling out a new cocktail menu for spring, with highlights like Dates Gone Wild, an updated take on a Old Fashioned, crafted with Wild Turkey Rye. The annual see-and-be-seen Spring Awakening party is tonight.
