Trading Dalembert becoming tall task

You may have thought last week was a crazy one for Sam Dalembert. You’d be wrong.

Even though Dalembert’s name surfaced in an ESPN.com report detailing a trade that would have sent him to Sacramento, Sammy wasn’t sweating it.

“Crazy? Why? I went to practice, I went home,” Dalembert said. “My agent takes care of all that.”

Dalembert wasn’t even worried about going to Sacramento, known around the league as one the worst NBA cities for night life. But, as Dalembert pointed out, the social life couldn’t be much worse than in South Orange, N.J., where he went to college (Seton Hall).

“Man, I’ll go anywhere. I just want to play and I want to win,” he said.

Of course, both the Sixers and agent Marc Cornstein are shopping Dalembert to anyone that will have him. That’s no secret. There’s just no market out there for a guy making $11.3 million with a 15 percent trade kicker. Dalembert is averaging just 5.4 points and 6.2 rebounds in 22 minutes per game — his lowest numbers since his rookie year in 2001.

The Sixers would reportedly just take back some expiring contracts, even though they still couldn’t sign any significant free agents.

But for now— and possibly until his contract is up after next season— the Sixers are stuck with a guy that doesn’t truly want to be here.
