A suspected road rage shooting left a man dead and two others hospitalized Saturday night in Southwest Philadelphia, police said.
Authorities said a preliminary investigation indicates that the shots followed an argument stemming from a crash that occurred at around 11 p.m. on the 2400 block of S. 62nd Street in the Elmwood neighborhood.
Investigators said a 21-year-old man was shot in his chest, and he died a short time later at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center. The PPD has not publicly identified him.
A 22-year-old man was taken to the hospital in critical condition after being shot in his chest and arm, according to police. The third victim, also a 22-year-old man, sustained a wound to his buttocks, and authorities said his injuries are not considered life-threatening.
Police said a male suspect has been taken into custody, though they did not release any further details. Anyone with information is asked to call or text the PPD at 215-686-TIPS (8477).
The incident occurred about 2 miles away and less than 30 minutes after a shooting in Cobbs Creek that left a man dead and three other people injured.
