Philadelphia’s Founding Footsteps is rolling out one of its most popular seasonal attractions once again — the BYOB True Crimes Trolley Tour. Now in its sixth year, the eerie excursion has become a staple of the city’s fall calendar, offering a mix of chilling history and theatrical storytelling.
The tour runs Sept. 25 through Nov. 2 and takes guests through some of Philadelphia’s darkest chapters. Riders will hear tales of H.H. Holmes — America’s first serial killer and a Philadelphia native — as well as the story of the nation’s first bank robbery in Old City. Unlike a traditional lecture, the tour unfolds on a trolley that travels through the same streets where the infamous crimes took place.
Part history lesson and part haunted party, the experience blends live music, video presentations, and theatrical narration, complete with archival news clips and interviews. Guests are encouraged to bring their own beer, wine, or spirits to enjoy along the ride.
“This event is not for those easily disturbed,” says Founding Footsteps owner Tim McAleer. “With all of our tours, we go overboard to create an ambiance and experience that leaves lasting memories — the kind that aren’t easy to forget, even if you try.”
