Every football season, the Turkey Day Tailgate chooses a Sunday to bring out Thanksgiving fare, fresh fun, and a few ways to give back to the community. This year, the annual event from Philly PR Girl (and presenting sponsor, The O’Hara Home Team) has chosen FDR Park for its venue, and will kick off at 8 a.m. on Oct. 26.

The early-morning event will run through noon, up until the Eagles face off against the New York Giants, but those who don’t have tickets to the game are welcome to stay on site for a live stream of the game. The outdoor event is part football, part charity, with plenty of food, drinks and activities. The charity portion this year comes in support of HEADstrong Foundation’s Donate A Turkey Dinner initiative.

Built in honor of Nick Colleluori, the HEADStrong Foundation is dedicated to improving lives affected by cancer. Created in 2006, the organization began aiding individuals in the Philadelphia area through different services, and eventually expanded to the Boston area in 2024. The Donate a Turkey Dinner initiative specifically provides Thanksgiving meals to cancer patients and their families for the holiday season.

Food and drink-wise, the Turkey Day Tailgate will be serving up a selection of bites and sips from some local and well-known brands, some Thanksgiving themed and some just tasty.

For the festive fare, Dig Inn will be serving up  cornbread bites with cranberry sauce and charred chicken and Di Bruno Bros. will offer their jumbo chicken wings, signature five cheese mac & cheese, and chive mashed potatoes. The menu also includes Humpty’s Dumplings’ bacon egg and cheese bites, pumpkin pie, and Gobblin dumplings, Pastificios’ handcrafted Gobbler sandwiches, and Taylor Chip’s oversized cookies.

Local staples like Wawa, Herr’s, and Yards Brewing Co. will also be on site for the event, as will Bacardi and BODYARMOR.
